Getting around

Explore is the easiest place to see what people are posting across Yafbog.

Profiles let you see a person's posts, information, connections, and the sections they have chosen to make part of their space.

Search can be used when you already have something or somebody in mind.

Posting

Yafbog supports journal and media posts.

You can save unfinished posts as drafts and return to them later. Media that you have uploaded can also be managed through your media library.

Visibility controls determine who can see a post. Pay attention to those settings before publishing something that you do not want broadly visible. The internet remains stubbornly resistant to unseeing things.

Connections

Yafbog supports several ways of relating to other people.

Friends represent an accepted two-way connection. Following lets you keep up with somebody without requiring a friendship. You can also ignore or block users when you do not want to interact with them.

Your Connections page collects these relationships and pending requests in one place.

Your profile

Your profile is your main space on Yafbog.

You can edit your profile information, manage your avatar, and organize profile sections from your settings.

Profile sections let you organize posts into different parts of your profile rather than presenting everything as one endless chronological heap.

Feeds

Explore provides normal ways to browse the site, and Yafbog also supports feeds built around the people and kinds of content you want to follow.

The idea is simple: use the feeds that are useful to you instead of training yourself to please a mysterious ranking system.

Messages

Messages are private conversations between Yafbog users.

They are not publicly visible, but they should not be treated as end-to-end encrypted communications.

Account settings

Account settings include things such as your email address, password, timezone, profile settings, and other account preferences.

Password reset links expire after one hour.

Something broke

Refreshing the page remains one of computing's most humiliatingly effective diagnostic tools.

If a problem continues, note what you were doing, what page you were on, and any error message you received. More formal support and reporting tools can be added here as those systems are built.
